We are saddened to hear of the passing of longtime AASSC member Birgitta Wallace, on May 20, 2025. 

As stated in her obituary, Birgitta was "a pioneering Swedish-Canadian archaeologist renowned for her groundbreaking work in Norse archaeology," and she had "a distinguished career that spanned continents and reshaped our understanding of Norse exploration in North America." Birgitta served in numerous leadership positions through the years in our organization, and she was an amazing friend and supportive colleague to those of us who knew her. We will miss her.
